Analysis: The Sam Barrington recovery tour derails as it leaves the station
After he worked his way into the Packers’ lineup as a second year player in 2014, expectations were high for Barrington as he began the Packers’ 2015 season as a starter.
Any hopes for Barrington quickly diminished as he broke his foot in the 2015 season opener, spending all of that season on the sideline.
As 2016 dawned, Barrington was presumed to be the de facto starter, despite the presence of Jake Ryan and Blake Martinez on the roster. But whether it was rust, a lost step, or too much youth on the roster, Barrington didn’t play well during the exhibition season and was released at the conclusion of training camp.
He signed on with the Chiefs but didn’t make an impact in two games there, and ultimately made his way to New Orleans for a stint with the Saints. He played five games there but didn’t record a tackle.
